What you will find here
We collect simple activities that need little or no special equipment: rainy-day games, chalkboard and drawing ideas, sidewalk chalk, outdoor play, backyard games and screen-free routines. Each idea is written fresh for this site.
We focus on play itself. You won't find science experiments or paper craft projects here; plenty of other sites cover those well.
How the slates work
Most pages include activity slates: small chalkboards with the essentials of one activity. Each slate shows:
- Where it works best: indoors, outdoors, or either.
- A rough time, in minutes.
- An age ruler from 2 to 12, with the suggested range chalked in.
- Energy and mess, each marked from one to three.
- What you need, and a one-line how-to.
On the home page you can filter the slates by place and by age, which helps when you need an idea quickly and the weather has just changed your plans.
Age ranges are a starting point. Children grow at different rates, and you know your own child best. A slate marked for ages 5 to 8 might suit a confident four-year-old or a younger sibling with help.
How we handle safety
Every activity assumes an adult is nearby and judges what is safe for the children in their care. We include general safety notes, such as keeping small objects away from children under 3, and staying close to young children near water. We don't give medical advice. For questions about health, development or injuries, contact your pediatrician or another qualified professional. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
Where we mention guidance from groups like the World Health Organization or the American Academy of Pediatrics, we keep it general. Guidance changes, so check the current version at the source.
What we don't do
- We don't sell products, run ads or use partner links.
- We don't rate, rank or recommend brands of toys or supplies.
- We are not a school, daycare, camp or toy maker, and we are not linked to any of these.
- We don't collect personal information. See our privacy policy.
